Frequently Asked Questions
When is the ideal time for my child to start planning for an education abroad?
The best time to start the process is when your child is in the last year of secondary school or even earlier. This will give them enough time to research universities, apply to the ones they prefer, and ensure they have all the necessary documents and test scores ready to go.
However, it’s important to talk to your child and research schools’ opening and closing dates for applications, when tests should be taken, and any other important deadlines that may apply. If you don’t start the process early enough, it’s possible that your child won’t have enough time to apply to their preferred universities and colleges.
How can I help my child in the process?
The best way to help your child is to provide them with knowledge and support. Knowing what type of study field your child wants to pursue can be a great help. Research the various universities’ requirements and differences in admission processes. This will help them focus the process and help you determine the best fit.
How do we shortlist colleges?
When shortlisting colleges and universities, it’s important to be thorough. Start by finding out what criteria and requirements each college and university have for admissions. Compare the criteria to ensure that your child is eligible to apply.
It’s also a good idea to set up a spreadsheet that tracks each college’s requirements, fees, scholarships and other relevant information. This will make it easier to compare and contrast the various universities.
Are there minimum grades I need to achieve to study abroad?
To apply to colleges abroad, students usually need to meet a certain minimum in their academic results. Different countries may have different requirements, so it’s important to find out what the minimum for each college is.
In general, most universities will require your child to have good grades in English, Math, Science, and a second language. Some universities may also require them to have taken certain standardized tests, such as the SAT or ACT.
How do I get a scholarship to study abroad?
Scholarships for international students are becoming increasingly popular as more countries are trying to attract top talent from around the world.
Look for opportunities available and any applications open to your child. You can apply directly via the university’s site or through an education consultant, who can help identify all scholarship opportunities available to you.
